OK, I'm few days ahead of you, but not that much. (and very slow learner, getting too old for learning new tricks lol) And yes, I would be happy to help as much as I can. Let's see if we can over time recreate with Python, what you were already doing with Excel. But as beginner myself, no promises ;-) Would you mind sending me through PM your email address, that way we can easier communicate, share screenshots, code... I will later today send you starting code for advfn site - Company Data tab, and it's explanation, what each line does... why I'm using certain libraries, few general things about scraping if you want... and what I found out about advfn url's. Yes you are correct, finding real value and gems will not go without hard work, without reading financial statements and analyzing numbers, but some automated pre-work can at least give you some help by narrowing down candidates from many to few. Unfortunately I have yet to learn this part (fundamental analysis). My first serious project I hope I can finish in a few months is to have list of companies, that members here are interested in, or they hold shares in, that I would for those companies scrape info about insider buys and sells from sec.gov site. There is somewhere online one outdated code doing something similar, but uses different scraping technique, (reading RSS with xml) there is not much tutorials online for that way of scraping. And that outdated code is complex, way above my head for now. So I'm leaving it for some later time. But this is eventually what I would like to do and it should be beneficial for other members here also.
