Most the thinking and behavior on the right is a direct reflection of what they have done with religion and science. Read up on the creation/evolution "debate" and the tactics they use there, and you will see the same methods and results carried over into AGW, economics, etc.

Many moderates, and most liberals will stand up for freedom of religion as being vitally important, but what is happening now in conservative media is that the culture of lying to themselves has nearly completely displaced critical thinking. The results should be no surprise. It turns out that if you hold nutty opinions about reality because that is what your religion teaches you, you will also be susceptible to nutty opinions about reality that have nothing to do with your religion at all, but are instead due to your politics.

A majority of republicans now think that colleges and universities are bad for America. This is what talk radio and fox has done to them. They use ignorance to excuse evil within their own party.
