Upgrade card offers video capabilities

Sowah of Hong Kong has introduced two new PC upgrade cards, the Prisma MPEG-2 and a second generation DVD-ROM card.

The Prisma is a DVD video decoder offering MPEG-2 video decoding, support for plug-and-play as well as MPEG-1, MPEG-2 and AC3 audio formats. The DSP audio core is programmable. The card also offers a 3D audio algorithm upgrade, a copy protection processor, authentication, decryption and an analog protection system.

The second generation DVD-ROM card upgrades DVD-ROM drives to operate at 2x and read CD-ROM media at 20x. It is backward compatible with CD-ROM, CD-R video and music CDs. The output format is Dobly AC3 with 5.1 channel stereo. Both cards support multi-language programming and parental-control options and are available in six software releases for differet regional codes.
