If you just get your news from the Murdoch Empire, I think it actually is possible to avoid hearing much in the way of a discouraging word about Trump or Republicans in general. My dear old Mother (88) stopped her subscription to a local paper, and instead now reads the WSJ, which is WAY more balanced in her view, and doesn't have all the "garbage" the local paper did. Unfortunately that is what many Americans are now doing, inserting their head in their ass, and not paying attention to reality. It will bite them at some point...
