How in the world can a government justify spending $10 Million, let alone $100 Million, trying to get people on board with a big spending initiative. It is just beyond stupid. If people want it they know how to find it. Even if you could justify it in the first year or two, how could you not know at this point? They should not be spewing taxpayer dollars like this. (Not sure why government should have an ad budget anyway).

Boy I hate to see that type of non thinking. A university is more than a place that disseminates information. If you thought about it everyone has available all the information they could ever learn right now on the internet. What makes a university unique and irreplaceable is the dialogue between teacher and student and student and student. All these students are learning together and learning from each other. The environment is mostly devoted to a bunch of people learning at the same time and sharing the experience. I learn on my own all the time, but the university experience was a total life experience including the most fun most of us will ever have. In four years I went from an ignorant person who did not know what society meant to an existentialist. That is a long journey. We need more public schools not less and free pre school and community colleges for every person in the country. That is how to get rid of poverty , ghettos, crime and increase productivity. Develop the citizens mind! << Take the $100 million and put it into dismantling physical universities and deploy higher education on the web and save the kids of today the 100's of thousands of dollars of debt that todays kids shoulder when they graduate.
