Chas,

I did one pricing for CompUsa and I found I was not able to configure exactly the same machine because CompUsa has only the smaller monitors and offers no business software package only home essentials. Also, the sound card and speaker configuration were not comparable.

Anyway I stripped those items off both computers and came up with

DELL = $2,282
CPU = $2,532

This is about a 11% advantage for DELL over CPU without the monitor or soundcard. Not bad!

Note: the CPU systems are a lot less configuarable at the CPU website than at DELL's website.
