Brian,

I'm waiting for the order pushouts and/or cancellations to be announced by AMAT (in ref. to Korea); when that happens I believe it will be time to buy! buy!

Regards,

JSV

Below is the link to the 1997 4th quarter report posted on Applied's web site dated November 20, 1997. I found it helpful to read again.

How much of this has changed in less than 2 months? Probably the most significant change is that new orders representing 30% of the total orders coming from SEA in the 4th quarter will be much less in 1998 1st qtr.

I liked this statement the best:

"Backlog at the end of fiscal 1997 increased to $1.72 billion, from $1.42 billion at the end of fiscal 1996. "

Brian, this will make you feel better...

Excerpt:
''Investors are in an orgy of pessimism about
corporate earnings because of Asia,'' said Peter
