off topic question for all: Is there a printed circuit board trade association, either national or in California? A trade association represents the interests of all the manufacturers. thanks

AVERMEDIA MPEG WIZARD DOES NOT NEED MAGIC TO CAPTURE AND
COMPRESS FULL MOTION VIDEO UP TO 200:1

First External MPEG-1 Encoder Available For Novice And Professionals

FREMONT, CA (November, 1997)-MPEG-1 video is no longer a bunch of hocus pocus available only to magicians.
AVerMedia Inc., the multimedia video leader, has introduced the AVerMedia MPEG Wizard, an external real-time
MPEG-1 encoder that lets just about anyone make their own videos for use in presentations, e-mails or Web pages.
The up to 200:1 ratio of compression places full-motion video into files that are small and efficient to electronically
transmit. Best of all, AVerMedia has made the consumer's price worries disappear with a first-in-the-market price of
$349 (MSRP).

This device is aimed at a large variety of applications, including video email, video screen savers, video streaming
(webcasting), video CD production, still image applications, etc. AVerMedia MPEG Wizard supports
Low-Bit-Rate/Low-Frame-Rate MPEG file capture, which allows for reducing MPEG-1 files into even smaller files for
super fast uploading/downloading, as well as minimizing hard disk space. The included Real Time Audio/Video Muxing
function allows users to capture video and audio files simultaneously which eliminates additional time and hard disk
space required to capture video and audio separately and then combine them together. The encoder also provides a
Color Preview function on a VGA monitor so the user can monitor the video while capturing it. AVerMedia MPEG
Wizard plugs directly into the parallel port of any Pentium PC or laptop to allow users to capture Composite/S video
inputs in real time into full MPEG-compression (up to 200:1) using the C-Cube CLM 4111 chip.

The AVerMedia MPEG Wizard can capture true pixel-to-pixel image resolutions of up to 704 x 576 and 24 bit
colors, although it allows for 1600 x 1200 with the included software zoom solution. It compresses full motion video up
to 352 x 240 for NTSC and 352 x 288 for PAL. The encoder comes with an entire arsenal of video applications,
including the NET TOOB Stream (the top rated multimedia player for the web), the built-in i-Media Audio Driver from
Q Design for real-time MPEG audio compression, and iFilmEdit from Cinax for video file editing, Video Control from
Stefra for video email application and Studio M from Astound Inc. to create multimedia greeting cards,
announcements, video photo albums and more. Also included are AVerMedia's software and Kai's Power Goo 1.0
SE-The Fusion Room, which gives the user infinite possibilities for fusing two images into one.

The device, which measures 6.4" x 5.1" x 1.9", comes with a one-year warranty for parts and labor. Users need an
IBM or compatible PC or laptop with a 100 MHz or faster Pentium processor, a Windows Sound system-compatible
sound card and a multimedia ready hard disk drive. A VGA card with DirectDraw support and 16 MB of RAM are
recommended. For more information on this or any of AVerMedia, Inc.'s products contact the company at
800/863-2332 or fax 510/770-9901. Visit the company's Web page at www.aver.com.
