Republicans didn't work with Presidents Bush or Obama during the financial crisis. The gains you see in their party winning elections is based on a SCOTUS ruling that gave billionaires the power to buy elected officials across the country. The Koch brothers own nearly every republican in office in the country. Citizens United was a new law SCOTUS created that keeps their party in power. It's that simple. Add to this the billions of dollars of free ads they get from talk radio and fox news and what we see is a dumb party, filled with idiots, run by idiots and for idiots.
