The following was released earlier today--after the market closed. I do not know why Roel Pieper (CEO of Tandem Computer) left. I certainly do not view his departure as a positive development. He was the expert in running that business--although I was not particularly impressed by the financial results of Tandem during his tenure there. I do not think that anyone whithin Compaq is ideally qualified to run the marketing functions of the Tandem Division. The non-Tandem parts of Compaq are very different businesses. Does anyone know why it makes sense for the Tandem marketing operations to be managed by the head of consumer division? Please let me know. (Only persons with detailed understanding of key factors for success of Tandem operations need to reply.) ================================================================= ( BW)(COMPAQ)(CPQ) Compaq Computer Corporation Announces Management Changes Business/Technology Editors HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 9, 1998--Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE:CPQ) announced today key management changes in three organizations - Worldwide Sales, Marketing, Service and Support Group, Consumer Products Group and the North America Sales and Marketing Geography.
