I think Sam has it right.
Analysts love to throw out some sand and shake things up. They do their "channel checks". Which more often than not turn out to be wrong. Especially for companies like Micron which have had a good run (they used to do it with Sandisk at least once a year). They shake the trees, get some selling going and scoop up some stock.

He is being very "nice" IMO. The analysts want to buy some cheap stock. MU was about to go higher than they ever thought, and they missed the boat. Got to bring the price down so they can buy it and make a good "killing". They have to cause a "down cycle" even though the real analysts like SEMI, who are on record, are showing chip sales increases for all of 2018 into 2019.

Nothing holders of the stock can do about it now. The damage is done. It will be interesting however, to follow the action over the next few wks/mths.
