Nestcape is operating in China: [CND, 12/03/97] Netscape will launch its Chiense web site in January 1998, which is being produced and managed by China Internet Corporation (CIC), Netscape's first international site affiliate, Newsbytes reported. Netscape's James Clark predicts that the number of Internet users in China is expected to increase tenfold, from 203,000 to 2.7 million, within the next four years. Clark said that the Chinese Netscape site will provide customers and business with a "hub" that offers localized company and product information, as well as connecting customers to sales and subscriptions, products and services. <<<< The above news and other info was published in CND-L Newsletter, No.87.

All of the accomplished financial developers that I know don't have time to read books.

I think this statement pretty much sums up the whole MS software development community. They haven't read what OO development is all about - small, DECOUPLED code that is well tested.

Looks like SI had that special "NT Moment" last night. How long were we down for Reg? I'm glad MS isn't in charge of our 911 service.

You said:

They do Corba, Java, and MSFT technologies, but the bulk of the money is going
into MSFT stuff.

Here's some counterpoint:

zdnet.com
Most of the tool vendors will focus on Java and CORBA
(Common Object Request Broker Architecture), and
even Microsoft plans to show a renewed focus on Java
as a language for enhancing application services that will
sit on top of Windows NT 5.0, officials said. A major
release of its Visual Studio tool suite is planned. "We
are as committed to the Java language as we are
committed to Visual Basic and Visual C++," said
Product Manager Bill Dunlap.

Borland International Inc., of Scotts Valley, Calif., plans to update its C++ Builder,
JBuilder and Delphi. It will also consummate its acquisition of Visigenic Software Inc. with
a CORBA-based middleware application server.

Moreover, this is an outtake from ZDNet, which is generally favorable to MSFT, and it is in an article under the banner of "1998 / Year Ahead" (http://www.zdnet.com/pcweek/sr/1998.html).
