Based on current market valuation of QWST's network, it is understandable why it would be on most lists.. Here are some calculations I did for my own edification and enlightenment:
Current cable miles installed: 3,500
Eventual cable miles, total 17,400
Current fiber miles 168,000
Eventual fiber miles 840,000
Value of 10,000 fiber miles in the Apex deal: $260 Mil
Apex value applied to current network: $4.16 Billion
Apex value applied to next year's network: $20.8 Billion
Current value per share (of installed network): $38.80
Next year's value per share(of installed network): $194
Note: The value per fiber mile is actually going up, so this is a
conservative valuation. All IMHO and FWIW.. (worth what you paid for it <g>) dlo
