Malawi is the one country south of central Africa I've never been in. My wife grew up in Nigeria and we met in Kenya. My dad used to go from Rhodesia up to Blantyre once a year or so. Took lots of pictures, and yes its a beautiful country.

Despite sanctions, Rhodesia had a pretty good economy, and lots of nationals from the surrounding countries came for work there, despite the bush war and all, kind of like Mexicans come to el Norte. Under Mugabe its been the opposite. Lots of Zims go to South Africa where they get treated like illegal Mexicans here (or worse). It will be interesting to see if thing improve at all with Mugabe gone. Assuming he actually stays "gone".
