There are only two tribes of significance in Zim, Shona the large majority (Mugabe's side) and Ndebele (cr 20%) in the southwest bordering Botswana and S. Africa. After Mugabe came to power, he created a special army unit (with help from N. Korea!) that would eventually kill almost as many Ndebele as people died in the bush war getting independence from the white Rhodesians. The world was largely silent while that happened. And yes, I don't expect things to improve much under the new government, but you never know...
