When facts are posted, then I evaluate, as I did with zzzpat's post. There is far too much nonsense posted on these threads, so every now and then I test people to back up their innuendo with some research. I read for several hours every day from news sources from the left and right and from those in the US and overseas. I see the patterns of truth as well as the lies. However, I've noticed that others are far less well informed, so I like to play dumb to test others. At the end of the day, I live my values and judge people based on their actions, not based on their party affiliation. Too many people are way too partisan in this country, which would be ok if we had two parties worthy of the people's dedication. But the fact is that both parties are corrupt and worthless. So I find partisanship to be an abdication of deep thinking. Frankly, I find it disdainful. So when I see it on the left or right, I call it out. For example, the GOP is silly and stupid when it comes to their lack of belief in the science of Climate Change, resistance to some women's rights like birth control, LGBTx rights, bending over for Evangelicals, outrageous military spending, warmongering, and never-ending tax cutting which we don't need. The Dems are silly and stupid with their love of socialism which destroys the economies of nations and pushes them to dictatorship, identity politics that turns every minority group into people with victim mentality, stupid economic solutions that don't work, the over the top welfare state that destroys incentives to work, blind support for all Muslims even when they are behaving badly, ridiculous support for criminals like Hillary and Bill, sickening political correctness which erodes the freedom of speech, and hypocritical opinions that support women's rights on the one hand but defend Al Franken on the other. I despise both parties and their rigid ideologies and I think the best thing this country could do for itself is to rewrite the Constitution to create a Parliamentary system instead of a two party system. So there you have it. You all can continue to try to classify me as Republican or Democrat, because your thinking is limited and predictable. The reality of who I am and what I believe is far more complicated and nuanced, just as all people in real life are not such simple cartoon cutouts. Too bad our politics can't adopt a more intelligent set of people who can deal with the three dimensional facets of running a country such as ours. If we continue to get the uninspired leadership we're getting now from our citizens, leaders and news organizations, then there isn't much hope for this country to resurrect itself.
