Why do you lie? It's common knowledge that insurance companies could deny coverage because of pre-existing conditions. There used to be coverage caps too, on top of hefty deductibles and co-pay.

I was tasked with doing whatever it took to get her insurance back so she could stay in the hospital. Our local hospital wouldn't allow her to stay unless she had insurance so she had to go home even after we said we'd pay the bill in advance. That's why I tried to get her insurance back. In the end, a friend of the family knew the hospital administrator and took our case to him directly and he personally allowed her to stay. We never did find out what it took to make it happen. One of these days I'll have to ask her what she did.
