OK, I need some more information. Which Mac are you using, a desktop or laptop, and which model?

What are you trying to connect with the Thunderbolt connector, an external monitor, hard drive, etc.?

Make sure those devices are powered on and the cables are tight. It's possible this is a hardware issue even though it occurred when you updated.

Lastly, High Sierra 10.13.2 just came out today, so you can try updating to that (open the App Store under the Apple menu, then click on Updates on the top right).

If you'd prefer to wait before installing 10.13.2 just yet, you can reinstall 10.13.1 by going here, downloading it again and reinstalling it. Reinstalling the OS will sometimes fix odd problems like you're having.
