Don, Brecchia, Thanks for your replies. While Windows indicated that it replaced the driver with the one provided by the monitor manufacturer (Samsung), when I go into Device Manager, it still indicates that MSFT is the driver provider for my monitor; and the problem hasn't cleared up. i.e. Location is shown as: on Microsoft Basic Display Driver C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\monitor.sys I thought I'd replaced it with: C:\WINDOWS\System32\spool\drivers\color\smp2370.icm This feels like a software problem. If HW, I would have expected a complete failure, not just lopping off the highest resolutions. I'll probably do full scans with Spybot and Malwarebytes, but I doubt that I'll find anything.
