Well, I do agree with you, but it seems like a pretty weak moral victory. If it had been me, I would have used that chip to extract something a bit more tangible for US interests than a "hey look, we're tough and we support Israel" moral victory. We need to be smarter. Now, having said all that, I would be lying if I didn't admit that I'm glad a US President finally had the balls to unambiguously side with Israel. The fact is we have FAR more in common with Israel in terms of our value system that we do with Middle East Muslims, who practice a very barbarous version of Islam and absolutely hate the US. I think all the bowing and scraping we have been doing to the Muslims of the world, even as we obliterate all signs of our own Christianity in an attempt to pretend to be tolerant of a religion that is absolutely intolerant of our own religion, has been a blaring sign of our own weakness and sycophancy. So do I like that he did it? Yes. Do I wish we had received something more tangible in exchange for using that bargaining chip? Hell yes.
