John,

Thank you for that summary of the prospects.

If there were a take over attempt and if the arguments for such an attempt were so compelling, what would keep other bidders from running up the price?

Also, wouldn't any prospective bidders want to wait for the first pokes at the Cambulous before steppping up to the plate?

Are not these conclusions of Mr. Faulkner based on what is up to now proprietary data held by HEC? Wouldn't a potential bidder want to look at such data before bidding? And couldn't Mr. Faulkner just say you can't look? Or has this information become more widely distributed than I'm concluding?

I do think there are a lot of folks in this business convinced of at least the potential of HEC, witness the costs of participating in merely parts of this drilling program. EnCap Investments spent $25 million for 5% of three wells and three unnamed European investment groups spent $7 million for 1.4% in the same wells. I'm assuming these folks know what they are doing and HEC must have shared a lot of information with them to obtain that type of support.

Perhaps the most compelling support for your argument is the fact of the communication itself. Harken has not exactly been loquacious about its prospects. Mr. Faulkner has been downright chatty in this latest communique; quite a contrast to past behavior. That's the nice thing about keeping your mouth shut most of the time; when you do finally say something, people sit up and take notice.

In any event, it sure is a lot of fun to be sitting in an equity position with talk like this flying around.

Enjoyed your comments John.

Regards,

Jack Simmons
