Good point ElM. Hot money needs a safe haven. Bitcoin does the job. Even at high transaction costs it's a good portable hideout.

TJ trundling 80 kg carry-on bags of gold bars would be noticeable and intercepted at customs borders. Bitcoin codes can't be found.

No wonder China is so big on bitcoin. Saudi and other looted public money has a natural home in bitcoin.

I learned a couple of days ago of somebody who was known to have bitcoin of about $5 million who died. Code lost. So the remaining bitcoin goes up in value.

Since everyone dies and it is wise to not let anyone know your bitcoin wallet code, or even that you have one, the 21 million total bitcoin that can be issued will not be in circulation. So price will go up as the available number of bitcoin declines.
