>>>Personally I can't agree about Excite. I'm considering shorting them or YHOO.

Buy more Checkfree Instead.....IMO.

>>>I just don't see the evidence that anybody reads web ads, or buys anything based on web advertising. Sooner of later these web engines that depend on advertising revenue are going to fall down.

That is exactly why of all I perfer Excite. 30%-40% of their revenue is comming from e-Commerce Partnerships(Buttons). More than the other 3 combined it think...I'll be looking it over again this Quarter.

Like in real estate....It's Location, Location, Location. You want your business to be on the most heavly traveled street....in cyberspace you want your Button(push button access to your business) on the most trafficed site....look at the buttons...on the Quicken.Com site or any others you may visit. That's how you get your business exposured on the Web...some have figured that out...and are paying Millions for a Stupid Button, and share transaction revenue with the provider of the page. Why? Because that's where the traffic is. Like in TV viewing he who hold the audience...commands pricing on advertising, in cyberspace it's exposure(Button)+a cut on the e-Commerce.

In the Future we will be amazed at how much a Company will pay for a Stupid Button....Just like today it is truely amazing what they pay for 30 seconds during the Super Bowl. In any event the Button prices will be going up not down. Investing against Companies like Excite IMO is like saying e-Commerce isn't going to work?

Note I'm not talking banner ads....IMO...those are a big waste of money....by and large....except for branding.

Infact....It would be a good Idea for Checkfree to get a Button..if you want to see this thing really explode.

Brooks...one final thought on off topic.

With Checkfree/Intuit/MicroSoft bringing us OFX...and Checkfree processing for Integrions' Gold...and all of them bringing it to one Standard over time.....of the 4 Engines. Which one would benefit 1st becuase of knowledge of OFX, GOLD...and knowing where it is going on a day-to-day basis? I would have to think...now I'm speculating...that Intuit talks to Checkfree...and Intuit talks to Excite..and in a round about way they end up talking to eachother.

Which may explain why Excite is racking up big numbers as a percentage of revenues in e-Commerce partnerships......now I'm speculating......and would be open to any thoughts.
