I know the top 1% very well and know how they think. They love their money more than anything else in life, more than their wives and children. I know because they have told me. Their safety net is at least 50M in short term US treasuries. Once they perceive you as a threat, they will look to have you taken care of. They are no different than the communists from the Stalin era. They are just more discrete about it. The situation here happens to be quite serious primarily because there is no serious unified opposition.
