Brumar, I'm glad you brought up the left's favorite nightmare scenario, namely the whimsical launching of a nuke by a rogue CIC.

Every military commander knows that only legal orders are to be obeyed. Even the enlisted men and women of our armed forces know this, as well as every single officer, of course.

It is their duty to disobey a direct order from the president when he issues an illegal order, such as "Let's just launch a nuke for the hell of it" or "Shoot that guy, I don't care. He's a Muslim."

Whether or not said illegal order becomes the basis of invoking the 25th amendment, I can't say. But at this point it's just speculation, and that's all you have right now. Mere speculation, along with an endorsement for utilizing the 25th for any arbitrary coup d'etat.
