Growth is always "strong" when your point-of-reference was near starvation.

Sorry, but America still has a much greater GDP than China and a much greater influence on the global economy than China does.

If the author wanted to rebuke the notion that America is the greatest nation on earth, he'd have to do better than flawed arguments like this that only affirm his Republican friend's view of the left.
