Whether Toshiba is crippled or not is irrelevant to the investment in WDC. Both being crippled doesn't make the WDC scenario any better. My concerns with WDC are unrelated to Hynix, and primarily related to Apple and Bain.

WDC is a more desirable investment post settlement than pre settlement. But even with the settlement, it is a less desirable investment than before the dispute. This is because of the crippling inclusion of Apple and Bain. They will have a negative effect on WDC versus what WDC could achieve without them.
