Er, that was the first ever attempt for those robots, how many people did you think would be in the room?

The term autonomous in that case means that the robot motions were determined by the system itself as it went along, they were not pre-programmed moves. It also means it was not teleoperated like a DaVinci robot is.

It doesn't matter if humans will always be in the operating room with a robot. What matters is that the robot will be replacing significant humans. If it doesn't, then what is the point of doing it?
