Good idea, but try this. Allow one to submit a message from oneself to oneself. You can do that now, only if you have all ready made a submission to the thread. (Of course you have to find your last posting which can be tedious and respond to it.)

In my way, you can just jump into the fray without offending anyone, but yourself.
