Wall St. Week Panelists: I looked through their 1998 stock picks. They were remarkable for their lack of Y2K companies. There were none that were clearly focused on Y2K that I recognized. I didn't tally the picks, but my impression was that there were a lot of financial sector picks, not many industrial picks. So maybe the Wall St. establishment views Y2K as a reason to avoid certain sectors (industrials with plant floors) and go to those who can benefit (financials, who will make loans to finance the fixes). It would fit with Josef's taping of the Wall St. woman who said she didn't invest in a "negative" situation. It was very obvious that Wall St. is unconcerned about Y2K if the panelists are representative of the general Wall. St. attitude.
