Anybody see the special guest on the Rukeyser show last night? Cohen did a lot to put a positive spin on what is happening in the market. Given the drop in interest rates she sees the Fair Market Value of the dow at 8500, thinks that the market has tossed out a lot of technology stocks (the Mighty Q?) without really knowing the direct effects of the Asian Flu on them. While the crisis is serious, she doesn't think that the effect on US company earnings will be all that serious - in many cases companies will benefit. She thinks that when earnings come in next week they will be good and the market will settle down.
It occurs to me that one might have lost more money since Oct 27 with a portfolio of tech stocks than with a portfolio of global mutual funds. Doesn't this reaction have to be overdone?
By the way - the Lehman report looked very good - thanks for pointing that out Brian L.
