Korean Stock Exchange was up 6.47% today ( 1/2 day trading session on
Saturday). Advancing issues led declining issues 10 to 1. An interesting article today in (Korean Herald ? ) noting that Samsung
has a market cap of 2.4 billion dollars, equivalent to the cost of one
of their new chip facilities. However the $ 7.9 billion of debt on
their books was a factor in the seemingly very low valuation. The article discussed how foreign corporations are actively looking for
bargains in Korea. As George Soros said it is new equity that is needed in Korea not more loans. Overall it sounds like some real
progress is being made in Korea. Now Indonesia.
