OT. Tax changes going to affect my attitudes regarding charitable giving. We itemize and sometimes wife and I make large (for us) charitable donations in addition to many annual ones. Given our taxable income and my usual itemized deductions, it may very well turn out that we're better off donating no dollars for a year or maybe it's two, and just accumulating those dollars and giving them all out the 3rd year - so as to get max deductions over the the three years (i.e. take standard deduction for one or two years, then exceed that in subsequent year with a large itemized charitable deduction.)

I don't like myself for having to consider doing this. If my heart were true, I'd be a person who generously gives money because I have enough money already and other people/organizations could use some help. I'm a lesser man though -it has just seemed easier mentally for me in the past to part with money because I've said what-the-heck, I'll donate, it's tax deductible, and I get a little tax break for helping out good causes.
