Not that surprised. I worked for a while for one of the largest companies in California and they were so afraid of being sued it took nearly that long. However, I also worked many years for a very small Texas company where it took about 5 minutes.

Once the Texas company was sued for wrongful dismissal and the plaintiff's lawyer was hoping for an out of court settlement. A meeting was held and my boss, who owned 51% of the company personally, told the lawyer that he had set aside 100 million to fight the charges but zero to pay out of court settlements. The meeting didn't last long. Go figure uh!
