David,

I meant that I bought some IDX options........while Rob was in the mood to sell them or write them....So I would be the buyer and Rob the seller......The meaning being that I jumped into the game on the other side. I think IDX will either go up alot or down alot. I think some major stuff is going to become known soon, or folks will give up.

The South Africa situation seems to be cloudy....not knowing what role the unknowns play.......Nice to see the names we know in there anyhow.

If there is a big deal in Cook County...and it seems that there is.....then we scooped it here, David....which is always fun. If there are lots of live-scan machines going in with NEC.......that would be even better.....if they are IDX machines. Identix's largest single Live-Scan machine order ever was New York City......85 machines, I think.......With Cook County having 143 manicipalities...I can only wonder as to the number of machines needed.....alot, I would think. If the newspaper article is correct, and the non-Chicago manicipalities are now using ink and roller...then Live Scan will enter into this in a big way.

I grew up in a suburb of Chicago. It was called a village. We had a village police department that had about 4 holding cells...if my memory of an unfortunate New Year's Eve is correct. There were about 10 squad cars and maybe 20 officers. These are not Sherriff's offices....but police departments of the village government....I'm sure that suspects or bad guys were brought to the village police department and printed....but later must have been moved into the County jails.(never got that far)..and that County swat teams and the like are called in as needed.......but these are suburbs that each have their own police department.....and of course there are many, many suburbs in Cook County.

What I read in the article is a plan to put in an afis at the County that can be accessed by village police departments that are now using ink and roller. A live-scan machine at each village police department would be very slick indeed.....and would be the logical way to go. And I would think that the new Cook County NEC afis will connect to the new State Police NEC afis and the City of Chicago afis (NEC?)...heck, the only job left would be to replace those old City of Chicago live-scan machines with some state-of-the-art good ones.

ps. SouthCoast should be sending them out in large numbers...I will find out...I hope they are not top secret or anything.
