"We really should be thinking about whether we want everyone standing up during concerts"

With the Dead, there was no thinking about it; it was an autonomic reflex. The band starts to tune up, the crowd starts to stand up.

I recently read :" The birth of Korean Cool. The author talks about how South Korea went from a third world economy to 10th largest in the world in 40 years because they are educational zealots. She said she can have a 30 minute conversation and repeat it back verbatim. South Korean kids are pushed to that degree of intellectual development. I don't recommend that, but it shows what the average person is capable of.

The Jews and Japanese have similar success stories based on the education of their society.

Who encourages their kids not to go to college? Do you have friends that did that? Would you have done that with your kids, or he? The standing up at a concert is a silly analogy. We are talking about getting educated for crying out loud.

How about if everyone is standing up, which is what I advocate. People need to learn to be curious. It comes with intellectual development.

People who major in the humanities get tons of training in logic and thinking. That was the thesis of what the ancient Greeks were doing-thinking and a major in philosophy.

Existentialism is all about thinking and nothing else. One simply cannot understand it without a critical mass of understanding.

One of the primary things, if not the primary thing, leading to income inequality is that virtually all of the rich (and people with a college education) make sure their kids go to pre school and college and so they end up the bosses and the poor end up working for them for peanuts.

PS and we are falling behind the rest of western democracies because we have become the stupid nation due to the Republicans anti intellectual behavior.
