I hitchhiked from Texas to CA to visit my brother in the early '70's, who'd moved to Alpine CA, near San Diego. Most Americans don't get the fire danger, as they don't face it.

I discovered it right away when I flipped a cigarette out the window, and everyone in the car freaked out! You'd have thought I'd killed someone. We actually drove back to make sure I hadn't started a fire, and that the cig was OUT.

I received a text message from one who loves what he's doing and is glad he doesn't need to find a job over the winter. They pay sounds good but it's not for me. They risk their lives so millionaires and billionaires can build houses where none should have been built.
