It was obvious when bitcoin first appeared that it would not win the money wars. Wasting energy as a mechanism to avoid dilution and to maintain block chaining was doomed to failure. So was the idea of carrying junk information forever in the block chain. Dispute led to a hard fork. The only way to succeed was Metcalfes law aka network effect. But that went belly up with the split and profusion of me-too mess.. There is even an acronym = ICO= initial coin offering. Mq the Marvelous pointed out the failure modes. But made the mistake of not nabbing a lot at the beginning on the greater fool theory. Mqurice
