steve,

Welcome back from Africa.......

The IDX annual report has the TouchLan III software network/manager........but I think the FingerLan is the same product under the Fingerscan name.......as TouchLock is Fingerscan....and Fingerscan being the name know internationally.

I think IDX is slowly combining the Identix and Fingerscan brand names under the Identix name. Fingerscan is now called Identix Austrailia.......It will take time, as many websites and other materials must be changed over.

Anyhow, I'm sure you have found Identix technology......Identix is everywhere.......good search...nice to see Oracle involved.

Good Morning steve,

I stand corrected on the Touchlan/Fingerlan III product.

From the Salomon Report...under "competitive advantages"

(3) Operating Systems Software- Identix has developed a "fingerprint nettwork operating system" called FingerLan which facilitates the management of a network of fingerprint acquisition devices and associated fingerprint templates.........Most importantly, the software provides an irrefutable audit trail for security applications.

Also from the report...FYI.........Bio-ID products....

Identix's Tochlock consists of a low cost, highly effective optically based unit that takes a three-dimensional image of a person's finger using digital holography and converts the scan into a data file. The captured pattern is not a complete fingerprint image and cannot be used to recreate a fingerprint from the data template. In addition, the small 1KB file size for templates compares to the 250KB or larger file sized for FBI type full-fingerprint images.........

More....Lucent chip....Chip-based technologies......

Identix is developing what likely will be the smallest and least expensive CMOS-based optical fingerprint aquisition technology to compete with the chip-based solutions until such a time as the chips are ready for mass market integration. However, Identix plans to integrate the new chip-based systems into it's own systems, when and if warranted, focusing on the software and integration instead of the hardware.

More......Markets........

The market for fingerprint and other biometric devicesrepresents a significant oppertunity and is expected to grow from $145 million in 1997 to nearly $1 Billion in 2001. Simimilarly, the law enforcement portion of the market for fingerprint imaging and identification systems will continue to expand, likely growing from $120 million in 1997 to nearly $300 million in 2002.

More later....Lots of stuff...lots of typing.
