Jack,

Thanks for the post. Wow! I thought quantum mechanics was tough. I think I'll keep concentrating on fundamentals. The news of association with WCOM in essence reduced risk in the minds of many investors, and explains much of the volatility. I AM interested in this statement:

"The price action may be driven by just the traders in the pit and is not attracting new players from the outside. I have a hypothesis that the traders in the pit may be just strong enough to push the market to price levels where there are many stop orders resting in the hands of the brokers, hence faking out the off-floor traders. ---------"

If FTEL is destined for earnings, and then more earnings, the price of the stock (or eventually dividends) will rise. I like Raleigh's approach of reducing risk, though, to reduce the roller-coaster nausea.
