Well, many do go bellyup --- as noted in my last post. Over time though one gets better at realizing which ones will make for the long haul. I've had many get bought out.

most, like 99% of them.
Once I lost 100% on a penny stock,
not just one account (five different accounts) LOL!
Didn't invest much ... it was my children's college fund two decades ago ...
then I found out that the college savings really don't affect college costs of attendance much.
for my income profile the state flagship costed more than an ivy league school for my first son.
the college fin aid program is an enabler for economic mobility for poor and middle class children.
