BB, > but consumers/mfgs will buy the least expensive
memory until forced to upgrade to faster/larger memory...

Not this consumer. I'd tell the seller "here's an extra
twenty bucks - double the memory", because I know it'll
come in handy. And the extra $$$ is just a couple percent
of the machine's purchase price. Consumers are
getting smarter and are getting better advice.
I guess they call that price elasticity?

EARNINGS SCORECARD: MOST EARNINGS REPORTS BEAT THE STREET

WITH EARNINGS SEASON just getting underway, we decided
the best way to keep apprised of reporting trends is to give
you a daily running tally of how many companies are beating
Wall Street earnings expectations and how many are falling
behind. So far, upside surprises are out in front, with 53.6%
of the quarterly earnings reports out since mid-December
beating estimates, according to Zacks Investment Research.
Only 29.9% of the 211 companies that have reported came
in below estimates, pretty much in line with what happened
last year at this time.
