The first thing that I would do is to check Windows updates:
1. Open Settings (type "settings" in the Windows search box - or - click on the settings Icon on the Windows menu (looks like a gear icon on the far left).
2. Click on Update & Security
3. Look at the Windows Update status.
  • Are there any updates waiting for a restart? If yes, restart the computer. NOTE: some Windows updates require multiple restarts.
  • Are any other errors listed under the Update status? If yes, click on the "Troubleshoot link under Update & Security. Then select the Windows Update option under "Get up and running" and Run the trouble shooter.

If that doesn't resolve the problem try running the System File Checker ("SFC /scannow") as described in this link:
