"Carolyn S.--I loved the scan from a couple of weeks ago that had HOWT, FMDAY, ALLY, ASHA, PLLL, CATH, etc.. Got any more? Were you able to refine the scan to reduce the number of stocks. I loaded your formula and I get about 600 stocks per night of both up and down stocks. Did I load the scan properly? Myron"

That scan is unfortunately only good on blah low volume days. It just picks out increasing volume with price not down or down only a little. Then, I look at charts of everything it spits out, and discard about half.

There was a lot of volume Friday so it would not be a good scan for the end of last week. What I do to reduce the number of stocks output are things like raise the volume change requirement, insist on price flat or up, screen out more low-avg-volume stocks, etc. I believe I posted the version that worked well that day.

Here's a brief list from a really picky scan I just wrote (attached). Basically just stocks that went up Friday, and were higher Thursday than they were a week ago, and have rising volume Thursday and Friday.

a >= 200 // At least 20,000 shares average volume
Vol(-1) > a
Close(0) > Close(-1)
Close(-1)>Close(-5) * 1.05
Vol(0)>Vol(-1)
Vol(-1)>Vol(-2)

Here Myron - this might be better. This list is direct from another new attached scan. Some of these stocks are REALLY hot. Some may be dogs - but I don't have time to flip through all of the charts. I charted some while the scan was working and there were some wild ones. Sorry - there's about 100 in the list. Scan is attached at the end. Some are very impressive.
