It's called Freedom of Speech. The University should have the power to decide who they allow to give speeches and they all do make those decisions. However, in this case, Berkeley decided it was ok for Y to give his speech. It was the students and a couple professors who decided to burn Berkeley down in response.

So the criminals here were the liberal left who get triggered when they aren't in their safe space and they are so incapable of dealing with opinions they don't like that they resort to violence and burning.
