That's right Arun but they are not "assets" when they are in individual brains. Nor is YouTube my property aka asset just because I get a majority of voters to agree with me that YouTube didn't build that so here are our new rules that say our gang owns it now.

Even if we call it a moral majority and call ourselves social justice warriors we didn't build that.

It's true that nobody knows how to make a pencil and it takes a lot of people in the world to make one, but while it's good to understand those two facts, a simplistic understanding of that idea doesn't mean it's a good idea to rob or try to enslave the pencil factory owner.

But lazy thieving stupid bludgers have tried for millennia to enslave other people with a load of blather about how slavery is natural, the emperor is divine, the so-called intellectual elite should get loads of opm, the poor deserve lots of opm, the collective needs loads of lovely lolly to make the community work and however much is taken isn't enough so they always kill the goose that lays the golden eggs. After all, the goose didn't make those eggs it was the hard working people who grew the corn that fed it, and built the road that the truck could go on, and the fuel station, tyre factory and on and on and on.

Isn't it weird how all those dwarfs and thousands of years of assets amounted to nothing in USSR, Mao's maelstrom, India's kleptocratic corruptocracy, Mugabe's Zimbabwe and Venezuela where there's stupendously vast amounts of oil?

"We" are not sitting on the brains of other people.even if we call their brains assets accumulated by dwarfs. Their brains are very much their own individual property. They do not belong to you or some amorphous collective.

You might be able to pay those dwarfs for what they know and think but you might not. What they know and think is not your property.

You could try to know and think the same things but in a specialized world it's impossible to know more than about a billionth of it all. So if you want a pencil you'll have to hire about half a billion people.

Or you could get on the You Didn't Build That opm bandwagon before it goes Venezuelan.

Rather than envy the rich and try to rob them, justifying robbery with trite and glib slogans about dwarfs as "reasons", people should recognize envy as one of the 7 cardinal sins, admire what the wealthy person achieved and see what value they can create themselves for other people.

Decades ago when pondering what is of lasting value I came up with DNA and knowledge. Everything else, even if built to last thousands of years crumbles and has gone. And it's only the winning DNA and knowledge that last.

It took only 30,000 years for all non-African males to be made obsolete. 90,000 years for all non-African women to go the way of the dodo.

Nearly all knowledge is obsolete too. Just a tiny anount was passed on through generations to last for even hundreds of years.

DNA brain design isn't really knowledge even though it's the basis for much of what we do and maybe the motive for all of it. As our son used to joke seeing me sitting somnolent = "Not hungry, not sleepy, not cold, not thirsty ..."
