Good article! I too feel that there is change in the air ...

This article does not refer to the price of NDS, but the pricing of NDS for NT. The product that they are referring to is one which finally delivers the power of NDS management to NT networks and domains.

As you read the article you will see that the author mentions several times the power that this product gives you, and in my opinion the savings that this provides you in management costs is well worth it. Most customers who are interested can explore the many ways that we offer pricing. I will admit that I am more technical than sales ... so I normally leave the pricing discussions to the sales reps.

NDS comes with NetWare ... but it is a very powerful platform for other management products. The NDS for NT is only one example of where we were able to quickly leverage the power of the directory to provide a solution to NT customers ... and it's a solution that Microsoft will not be able to provide until next year!

NetWare Application Launcher is another example of the power of a real directory. NAL allows for efficient management of applications, including automatic installation and management ... all based on our directory.

Moab is our "code name" for NetWare 5. So when you read about NetWare 5 and Moab they are one and the same ... and we *will* ship in 1998 ... not 1999! ;-)

We have been working closely with Oracle for over a year now ... at last years Brainshare they annouced the formation of the Novell division which is there specifically to develop and sell Oracle on NetWare. At the Techshare that we are just now rolling out we are doing a presentation showing Oracle on NetWare integrated with the Novonyx web server!

I would have to look into the status of their NC ... I was just reading a number of articles on the plane on the way down here ...

Yep! And with people like IBM developing the business applications I think that Java and NCs are starting to look more and more real!

> Thanks for your information.

No problem ... I'm glad that I can contribute!
