Tiger is not the thing I am speaking of.. and I agree .. we make much of our own luck...

Tiger Woods is an anomaly, and an easy distraction for some. I think we can make our own luck when we are completely open to seizing it whenever it presents itself. Sadly, it's hard for some to ever see it.

I think I'm lucky to have lived in the US versus Syria, not that I have any family in Syria. I was lucky to attended good schools and lucky to work with good people who have become good friends. In important ways, we got lucky together.

In my experience one big correlation for the lucky/successful is a college education. It's certainly not required to get lucky in life, but it doesn't hurt either in my opinion. Statistically, the college educated do better overall compared to those with and without a high school diploma. The 2009 recession was devastating for those without a college degree with their unemployment reaching 15%. For those with degrees the unemployment rate stayed under 5%.

Other than being born rich, getting educated is a very good way to earn more and consider yourself lucky. Unless you are really beautiful you are probably going to need to work hard as well.
