You've raised some good points. It may well be that ATHM would use the NLV boxes to provide internet access. Hadn't thought of that. I believe that they would use the existing cable line. I have roadrunner cable modem and it uses the existing cable line. So if ATHM is providing the internet service, the NLV boxes would definitely make it easier. I am a little concerned that it will take a year or two for those boxes to roll out. Anyone else provide more info? larry

Melissa-- I think you raised the right questions... and I haven't seen them answered to my satisfaction. My technical understanding is limited, but what the heck. The NLV box (receiving all the attention) is just an upgraded cable box. It's an important step forward in that will allow the cable companies to provide a variety of new services. The services MAY INCLUDE @Home, but the box is not necessary to bring @Home to the consumer. What I suspect the new box will be able to do is provide some forms of internet access (cheap, but limited). Stuff like E-mail, or WebTV. Also the box will be a platform for new applications that haven't been imagined yet (this would be the Java software, I think). Maybe stuff like electronic fingerpainting or graphics programs for home videos? I'm open for feedback, Paul
