I agree with your post. It's a real problem. The combination of hyperpoliticization of the news and ownership of the media being concentrated into the hands of billionaires is killing the integrity of the free press, which is critical to a properly functioning Democracy. The only disagreement you and I have on this point is that I see it happening on both sides of the aisle, not just among the conservatives. WaPo is owned by Bezos who has done plenty of hit jobs on Trump, for example. The NYT is 17% owned by Carlos Slim, the richest billionaire in Mexico, who is very openly anti-Trump and supports Democrats in the US.

So we are agreed, but it's systemic, not limited to one party.
